Digital elevation model
Aim of the method/technique | Digital Elevation Model is used for the description of the altitude, aspect and slope. |
Scale – spatial and temporal | Topographic information is obtained from a Digital Elevation Model (DEM) with 20-m resolution for the study area. |
Brief description | Derived variables obtained from the DEM are: altitude, aspect and slope. The 3 maps are reclassified into discrete classes. Geomorphology is described distinguishing different landforms in each study area according to the regional slope, altitude criteria (Engelen and Wen, 1995). |
Data requirements | Digital Elevation Model (DEM) with 20-m resolution. |
Main applications in grazing land regions | Describe the geomorphological characteristics of a SES. To be used as explanatory variable to assess the relationship between SES components . |
