Educational profile (by level of education) is described using frequency distributions and descriptive statistics.
Aim of the method/technique Literacy rate: the ability of a population to read and write.
Scale – spatial and temporal Local, regional, national level

Brief description Literacy rate is calculated as the number of people aged between 15 and 24 who have some form of educational qualification (who are literate) out of total resident population for that age range. The value obtained is then multiplied by 100.
Data requirements Literacy rate requires the total number of residents in the age range 15-24 and number of people in possession of an educational qualification within this age range.   It is usually provided by national statistical services or specialized studies.
