Description and location
The LEDDRA grazing land study site and the selected local communities (Fanlo, Torla, Broto) are located in the north of Huesca province, in the mountainous area of the north of Autonomous Community of Aragón in north-east of Spain, which includes the highest Pyrenees summit (3404 m in Aneto pick); a third of the area of this province is above 1000 m.

The hydrological network develops in direction north-south. The economy of the northern part of Huesca, the most mountainous area, has been linked to agro-pastoralism, while the southern part, more flat and in low elevations (bellow 500 m) as the main economic activity is based in the agriculture (irrigated cereal), as well as scattered industrial activity. Population density in Huesca province is 14.6 inhabitants/km², much lower than that of the Aragón community (28.2 inh. /km²), and bigger than LEDDRA grazing land study site with 4.4 inh./km². |
